Kit Carson County Department of Public Health and Environment will offer the one-day class, for boys and girls aged 11-13.

Safe Sitter class will be held Thursday, March 17th, at the Kit Carson County Ambulance Classroom. The address is 1576 Lowell Street, in Burlington. Class will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

A fee of $30.00 will cover the one-day class.

Over 500,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the medically accurate program, which instills students with confidence as they learn how, why and where injuries can happen so they can be prevented.

The curriculum has recently been updated provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques designed to prepare babysitter to act in an emergency. Babysitters also receive instruction on how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior and how to run their own babysitting business. They also learn basic first aid as well as how to perform infant and child choking rescue. They even are directed in CPR.

After students complete the class they will receive a completion card.
